N.D. (NewsDakota.com) The Cardinals scored their lowest point total so far this season and survived a comeback by the Loboes to pickup their 12th victory of the year, as they win 42-34 on Friday night at the Lamoure Activities Center. Lamoure/Litchville-Marion drops to 1-2 and 3-10 overall.
Junior Point Guard Garrett Bickett led the way for Carrington with 11 points, below his season average of 20 points per game. Junior Kolton Vetter added nine (avg. 11) and Senior Center Bryce Edland had seven, averaging 15 per game. Leading the way for LLM was Senior Forward Levi Hirschkorn and Sophomore Shay Ness off the bench, each had 10. As time was winding down in the fourth quarter, LLM’s Jamison Kramer made a 3-pointer to take the lead by one point, but the Cardinals offense came alive as Vetter hit a key 3-pointer and Bickett and Jayden Shipmen hit some must-have free-throws down the stretch to secure the victory. Edland had four blocked shots in the contest as well.
Next up for Carrington will be on Saturday evening (Jan. 28th) at Carrington High School against RV North Star for a girls and boys double header. Girls Varsity is set to tip at 2:30pm, boys Varsity at 5:30pm. Both games can be heard on AM 1600 KDAK and newsdakota.com during Cardinals Wrestling action from the East/West Tourney in New Salem.
