CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The city of Valley City is asking for the public’s input on the flood wall design along Main Street near the Rosebud Visitors Center.

KLJ engineer Eric Gilbertson said several concepts will be on display and discussed during tonight’s public meeting at 7pm inside the Valley City Eagles Club.

City Administrator David Schelkoph said this phase will focus on protecting Main Street and the downtown district.

Bids for the next phase will be let this year. Schelkoph said the city has $22 million dollars for this phase of permanent flood protection.

In 2016, The Valley City Commission approved of a preliminary design for engineering costs associated with this phase of the project for a cost of $930,000. Schelkoph said the cost share ratio has the state pickup up 85 percent with the city covering 15 percent.
