CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Valley City Junior High held its annual school spelling bee contest on January 20th.

English teacher Kristi Shanenko said all junior high students, through their English classes, competed in a 15-question preliminary round and the top scorers were invited to the school bee. 

At the annual school spelling bee contest, the top three places went to (1) Madi Klabo, 7th grade; (2) Jonathan Redfearn, 8th grade; and (3) Lily Douglass, 7th grade. 

Madi Klabo and Jonathan Redfearn will now advance to the Barnes County competition to be held at Valley City State University on February 7.
