CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The VCSU Viking Club Tennis team traveled to Bemidji, MN this past weekend to compete in the Beavers Tennis-On-Campus Invitational tournament.

The Vikings faced off with the NDSU Bison in the first round and pulled out a close fought victory in overtime 23-21. After the dramatic win over the Bison, VCSU cruised through the next 3 rounds not dropping a single set over 15 matches and only losing a total of 15 games.

This win moved the Vikings into 2nd place overall in the USTA Northern Section Tennis-On-Campus standings with 245 total points, just 65 behind 1st place NDSU. The Vikings have one final tournament Feb 11th and 12th at the U of M Gopher winter tournament and then move on to the Sectional Championship Feb 25th and 26th in Lakeville, MN. With 2 seats to the National Tournament in Orlando, FL on the line at Sectionals, the Vikings are playing their best tennis just at the right time.
