N.D. (AP) — North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum has ordered that flags on state properties be flown at half-staff Tuesday in honor of Rolette County Sheriff’s Deputy Colt Allery.
The 29-year-old Allery was shot and killed last Wednesday after he and three other deputies responded to a stolen vehicle call. Allery is the 57th law enforcement officer in North Dakota to be killed in the line of duty.
Burgum says agencies should fly the United States and North Dakota flags at half-staff from sunrise to sunset on Tuesday.
The governor says Allery served his community with “courage and honor.”
