N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Tax season is upon us and the University of Jamestown accounting students are offering their services for free.

The IRS-sponsored Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program is made available for low-income and elderly taxpayers for free. Volunteers are trained to prepare tax returns for international students as well as handle any tax treaties that may benefit these students.

Accounting students will prepare and electronically file federal and state tax returns by appointment from 10 AM to 4 PM on Saturdays beginning February 4th through the 25th. All tax preparations will be conducted at the University of Jamestown campus in the Unruh-Sheldon building, room 136.

All volunteers completed and passed a series of certification exams under the auspices of the Internal Revenue Service and are bound by confidentiality agreements.

You can make appointments by calling 701-253-4468 or e-mail vita@uj.edu.
