Opdahl, age 83, died peacefully at the Jamestown Regional Medical Center on January 17, 2017. Lois was the 2nd of 5 children born at home on the farm to George and Carla (Andersen) Gudmestad of rural Litchville, ND. She attended Rosebud 72 country school and Litchville High School where she graduated in 1951. Lois married Gerald Opdahl on June 22, 1951 in the First Lutheran Church in Litchville. She had a servant’s heart. Her life was devoted to making a home for her husband, raising their six children and caring for her parents as their needs increased later in life. She trusted Jesus as her savior and prayed for family and friends regularly.

She also spent many years working mostly as a restaurant worker. She loved her small-town community life and the social opportunities it provided.  Coffee-time with friends and family created some of her most enjoyable social experiences.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald, her parents and her brothers, Donald and Dean.

Lois is survived by her brothers, Lyle of Lisbon, ND and Neil (Arne) of Ottertail, MN; her six children, Christine of Bismarck, ND, Michael (Diane) of Larimore, ND, Brian (Sharon) of Grand Forks, ND, Gary of Hastings, ND, David (Paulette) of Jamestown, ND, and Lisa of Devils Lake, ND; as well as 16 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

Visitation and remembrance time is Tuesday, January 24 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Oliver-Nathan Funeral Chapel of Valley City. The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 25, at First Lutheran Church in Litchville.
