CITY (VCSUVikings.com)- The Valley City State University softball team is receiving votes in the NAIA Coaches’ Preseason Top 25 Poll, released Tuesday by the national office.

The Vikings are coming off a school record 40-win season in 2016. VCSU finished the 2016 season receiving votes in the national poll as well, and are in the No. 33 slot in the 2017 preseason poll. Dickinson State is ranked No. 21 in the preseason poll.

Valley City State will open the 2017 season Feb. 11 and 12 with four games at the Presentation College Dome Tournament. The Vikings will play 14 games at the Presentation Dome in February before traveling to Tucson, Ariz., for their spring break trip from March 11-18.

VCSU went 40-13 overall last year and 17-5 in conference play. The Vikings finished one win shy of the national tournament, falling to Dickinson State in the third game of the best-of-three NSAA championship series.
