CITY, N.D. – (NewsDakota.com) Valley City Commissioner Richard Ross handed in his resignation on Wednesday, January 4th following what he said where threats of violence against him and his family over the course of several weeks by a few individuals who live in Barnes County.

Valley City Administrator David Schelkoph said residents need to get the facts about what is going on with this resignation and two others announced recently. He said it’s a shame that a small group of people can have this much of a negative influence on the city.

Valley City Mayor Dave Carlsrud said it’s sad when a few citizens can intimidate a city commissioner to resign.

Valley City officials and Rick Ross have not released the names of those responsible for these threats or vandalism to Ross’s property. Ross said his attorney has advised him not to disclose the identities of any of these individuals at this time.
