(NewsDakota.com)- After going winless a season ago and dropping their 1st 5 game this year, The Valley City High School Girls’ Basketball team ended their losing streak with a 64-54 win over Fargo North Friday Night in an EDC tilt. 

 

The first half featured 3 ties and 2 lead changes. With the game knotted at 11 The Hi-Liners went on a scoring run and pushed their lead to 14 points. The Spartans began to chip away at their deficit and were able to pull within 4 points 34-30 to end the half.

Reagan Ingstad hit back to back 3s to open up the final 18 minutes putting Valley City back up by double figures. Behind Courtney Lloyd’s 10 point in the 2nd half ,The Hi-Liners never trailed and were up by as much as 13.Fargo North pulled within 3 possessions with under 2 minutes remaining. Taryn and Jadyn Dieterle hit some late free throws to secure the win.

Taryn Dieterle scored 14 points to pace The Hi-Liners, Courtney Lloyd had 12 and Mackenzie Pederson 10. Anna Astrup posted a game best 18 point for Fargo North. The game leaves both teams with identical 1-5 records. Valley City returns home Monday to host ranked Fargo Davies.
