N.D.  (NewsDakota.com)  The Stutsman County Invitational Boys’ Basketball Tourney kicked off on Thursday, January 5th at the Jamestown Civic Center with four games.  The tourney consists off all Region 3 teams, four from District 5 and four from District 6.  Here are the results:

No. 1 D5 Ellendale 52,  No. 4 D6 Medina-Pingree-Buchanan 23

The defending Stutsman Champs will move into the first semifinal game on Friday night after defeating the Thunder in the first game on Thursday, 52-23.  Luke Wertz led the way for Ellendale with 17 points and six rebounds.  Blake Zirbes had 11 to lead MPB.   

No. 2 D6 Napoleon/Gackle-Streeter 46, No. 3 D5 Edgeley-Kulm-Montpelier 45

EKM led by as many as 12 points in the second half, but NGS scored 18 points in the fourth quarter to get the one point victory.  Senior Bryce Fettig scored the winning bucket as time was winding down in the fourth quarter.  Fettig led the way with 14 points.  EKM was led by Brant Naze with 14 points, Lane Hanson had 11 points and 13 rebounds for the Rebels.  The game featured five lead changes and five ties.    

No. 1 D6 Kidder County 73,  No. 4 D5 Midkota 55

Tied at 47 going into the fourth quarter, the number four seeded Mustangs were looking to get the upset over the Pirates of Kidder County.  But Senior Brighton Fallgatter scored 13 of his 28 total points in the fourth quarter to help his team win by 18 points.  KC scored 26 points in the fourth quarter, compared to just eight from the Mustangs.  Both teams shot over 40% from the field.  The Pirates hit seven 3-pointers, the Mustangs hit four.  Fallgatter also had 13 rebounds.  Midkota was led by 6’6″ Center Chance Wells with 16 points and 12 rebounds.  The game featured eight lead changes and six ties.   

No. 2 D5 Carrington 65,  No. 3 D6 South Border 41

No. 10 in the State of North Dakota, the Carrington Cardinals, improved to 6-0 in the last game last night as they defeat the Mustangs of South Border by 24 points.  The Cardinals shot almost 52% from the field, led by Junior Garrett Bickett with 20 points, including three 3-pointers.  SB was led by Bryton DeWald with 16 points, Tristan Lippert had 14 points and 11 rebonds.
