N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown Police Department is warning Jamestown residents of a new registered sex offender living within the city.

Leroy John Hanson, 52, has been assigned a high risk assessment by the North Dakota risk level committee. He currently resides at 2605 Circle Drive in the NDSH Transitional Home.

Hanson was charged with Gross Sexual Imposition in 2004 when a woman caught him in bed with her 14 year old sister. Hanson offered her $2,000 to keep quiet. He had been molesting the girl for over three years.

Hanson is not currently wanted by police and has served the sentence imposed by the court. This and other notifications are meant for public safety and not to increase fear in the community. Anyone who uses the information to threaten, assault, and intimidate the offender will be turned over for prosecution.

You can find handouts of Hanson and other registered offenders at the Jamestown Police Department.
