Engler, age 86, of Valley City, ND, died Wednesday, December 28th, 2016 at Mercy Hospital in Valley City.  A memorial service will be held at 10:30 AM Monday, January 2nd, 2017 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Valley City.  Visitation will be held one hour before the service at the church on Monday morning.  Inurnment will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery near Valley City in the spring.

Victor was born on July 16, 1930 to Louis and Louise Engler in Winona, Minnesota. He attended school in Winona. His first job was for the Watkins Company as the office boy. He was incredibly proud of this job. He later moved to North Dakota and learned the carpenter trade. He worked for Olaf Anderson and Son for 28 years until his retirement in 1994. He was quite the master carpenter.  In 1949 he married Gloria Miller; they were blessed with 67 years together. Along with raising their 4 children, Vic and Gloria opened their home to 110 foster children for 28 years.

Victor is survived by his wife Gloria; daughter Kathy (Rick) Stearns; sons Al, Scott and Kerry Engler; and grandchildren and great grandchildren, Terri (Curt) Stevens, Chelsea Johnson & Tyler Stevens, Rory (Tonya) Stearns, Shania & Miranda, Robin (Jesse) Voelk, Addie & Amelia, Ryan Stearns, Reid Stearns, Rand (Emily) Stearns, Sara Engler and Krista Engler.

Preceding him in death are his parents, sister Irene Langowski and daughter-in-law Jill Engler.
