(NewsDakota.com) It was a road split for the Oakes High School basketball teams Monday night, as the girls won out west, while the boys faltered out east.
In the girls affair, three Tornadoes (4-3) had three players in double figures, lead by Sadie Hansen’s 11 points and 11 rebounds as Oakes defeated Linton-HMB 58-42. The Tornadoes were down 14-8 after one, before tying the game at 26 at intermission. The Tornadoes then took a 12 point lead in the third, and never looked back.
The girls head to Edgeley in a return to Class B District 5 play on Thursday when they face Edgeley-Kulm/Montpeiler. Coverage on KDDR-AM 1220/95.9 FM and NewsDakota.com starts around 5:15 p.m., with tip around 5:30.
In the boys game, Senior Alix Wisnewski had a team high 15 points and junior Luke Foertsch added another 12 as the Lidgerwood-Wyndmere boys basketball team defeated Oakes 70-47.
The Warbirds (3-1) had all 11 players suited up score at least two points on the visiting Tornadoes, who had a trio of scores with ten or more points; sophomore Andrew Detlefsen (16 points), senior Jordan Cunningham and junior Tyler Voightman (12).
Oakes (0-3) next competes at the University of Jamestown Shootout on December 29.
