N.D. (NewsDakota.com)—The Carrington Cardinals girls basketball team improved to 6-0 on the season with a 60-29 victory over the New Rockford-Sheyenne Rockets. Playing without leading scorer and team leader Maara Nelson, the Cardinals had 9 different girls score with Haley Hewitt leading the way with a game high 13 points and 5 steals. Jill Endres and Bella Hone both added 10 points, and Emerson Hoornaert drilled 3 first half three pointers for 9 points. Endres also added 3 steals and 3 blocked shots. McKenzie Johnson added 7 points and 3 assists. Abigail Jarrett had a game high 4 assists for the Cards. Kadyn Mehring hauled in 5 rebounds to lead the Cards, Hone added 4 rebounds.
The Rockets were paced by Becca Allmaras 13 points and 7 rebounds, and teammate Hannah Heinz added 9 points. The Rockets dropped to 3-2 overall on the season.
