SD- (VCSUVikings.com) – Valley City State University’s Georgia Willams and Lexi Lennon have both been named to the North Star Athletic Association Women’s Basketball Preseason All-Conference Team, announced Tuesday.
The North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) conference basketball season officially open this weekend with four games scheduled for Friday evening. Williams, Lennon and the Vikings will open with road games at Mayville State on Friday and at Presentation College on Saturday.
Six players on the preseason team were selected to All-Conference last year, including BreeAna Olson of Dakota State (S.D.), Megan Klein and Lorna Shepherd of Dickinson State (N.D.), Kyra Dewald of Jamestown (N.D.), Andi Gayner of Mayville State (N.D.) and Georgia Williams of Valley City State (N.D.).
Williams is a two-time NSAA Women’s Basketball All-Conference First Team recipient, while Gayner is a two-time NSAA Women’s Basketball All-Conference Second Team recipient.
The North Star Athletic Association basketball schedule consists of 16 conference games with each team playing each other twice, one at home and one on the road. The postseason conference tournament kicks off on Feb. 22, 2017. The winner of the postseason tournament will receive an automatic bid to the NAIA Division II Women’s Basketball National Tournament in Sioux City, Iowa from March 8-14, 2017.
