memorial service for Carol Hoff, 76, Oriska, ND, will be held at the First Church of the Nazarene, 913 Riverview Drive, in Valley City on Friday, December 2, 2016 at 11:00 AM. Visitation will be held at the church beginning at 9:30 Friday morning. Burial will be in the Oriska Cemetery.

Carol Jean Carlisle was born September 27, 1940 in Detroit Lakes, MN to Harry and Margaret (Stulz) Carlisle. She attended school in Glyndon, MN, graduating from Glyndon High School. Following graduation, she attended Interstate Business College. Carol worked for a time at NDSU in Fargo, and while working there, she met Conrad Hoff.

On June 23, 1978, Carol and Conrad were married at Trinity Lutheran Church in Valley City. Before settling on their farm near Oriska, they lived in Valley City. She was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene as well as the Eagles and VFW Auxiliaries.

Carol’s life was spent as a caregiver. She worked with the after school and daycare program at St. Catherine’s and also worked at the Open Door Center. She and Conrad were foster parents to at least 30 children over the years.

In her spare time, she enjoyed to read, knit, and work on the Rubik’s Cube. She and her son, Lee, played hundreds of games of UNO.

Carol Hoff died at Sanford in Fargo, ND on November 26, 2016. She will be missed very much by her husband, Conrad, and their sons, Lee and Dustin. Carol will be remembered as a wonderful and caring sister by her sisters, Jeannette Savageau, Ellen Anderson, Barbara Cameron, and Donna Walhood and her brothers, Charles Carlisle and William Crume. She also leaves many nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Genevieve Carlisle; and a brother, David Crume.
