Olaf Kvislen, 90, went on to see the Lord on November 23, 2016 at Luther Memorial Home, Mayville, ND. He was born December 17, 1925 to Olaf and Inga (Bagley) Kvislen in Sanborn, ND. He grew up in Sanborn and graduated from Sanborn High School in 1943. After graduation he farmed with his dad.  He met the love of his life, Kathryn Loendorf, and they were married on November 25, 1948 at St. Catherine Church, Valley City.

He later worked at the Sanborn Lumber Co., was the City Marshal for Sanborn and the custodian at Sanborn Public School until 1970 when the family moved to Finley where he was the custodian and bus driver for Finley Public School until he retired.

He loved his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, going to Red Willow Lake for family gatherings, and woodworking. His greatest joy was his family and spending time with them.

He is survived by his wife, Kathryn; children Tim (Candy) Kvislen, Finley, ND, Mike (Delores) Kvislen, Finley, ND, Terry (Arlene) Kvislen, Ft. Pierre, SD, Karla (David) Martian, Grand Forks, ND, Janet (Dwight) Hendrickson, Ypsilanti, ND, Darwin (Debbie) Kvislen, Grand Forks, ND, David (Nicki) Kvislen, Cando, ND, Dan (Lori) Kvislen, Durand, WI, Paul (Melissa) Kvislen, Kindred, ND, and Ronda (Daniel) Milender, Litchfield, MN; 26 grandchildren; and 28 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, one daughter and one grandson.

The extends a special thank you to the Luther Memorial Home and to Hospice of the Red River Valley for their wonderful care of Carl.

The funeral service will be 2 pm Monday, November 28 at St. Catherine Catholic Church, Valley City.  Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Sanborn.

Visitation will be 6 – 7 pm Sunday at St. Catherine Catholic Church with a prayer service at 7 pm.  Visitation will continue at 1 pm Monday at the church.
