N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Law enforcement used fire hoses on demonstrators in the latest pipeline protest south of Mandan.
Hundreds of people blocked a bridge that had been closed last month after it was set on fire. Morton county sheriff Kyle Kirchmeier says despite the claims of some demonstrators, water cannons were not used.
Law enforcement fired rubber bullets and tear gas trying to disperse the crowd. At one point, an estimated 400 people were on the bridge.
Sheriff Kirchmeier says he believes that about 90-percent of those now protesting are not Native Americans. Over 400 protesters in last night’s riots were reported.
