(VCSUVikings.com)- Eleven Valley City State University football players were named to the Dacotah Bank/NSAA Football All Conference teams announced Friday by the conference office.
VCSU had five players named 1st Team All Conference and six were named 2nd Team All Conference. VCSU also had four players named Honorable Mention.
The Vikings finished the season with a 6-4 overall record and a 4-2 mark in NSAA conference play, finishing second in the conference standings.
Defensively, VCSU had four players earn 1st Team honors: linebacker Nicholas McBeain and defensive backs Andre Peppers and Jawuan Pugh. Tight end Tayler Lentz and offensive lineman Avery Lock were named 1st Team Offense.
Quarterback Kurtis Walls, receiver Colby Lum and offensive lineman PJ Peterson were named 2nd Team Offense. Linebacker Ben Bruenjes, defensive back Travon Smithand defensive lineman Harvey McMahon were named 2nd Team Defense.
Honorable Mention honors went to defensive linemen Sam Cooke and Dalton Locke, running back Jacob Duilio and wide receiver Jake Peterson.
Austin Opdahl of Dakota State (S.D.) was selected to the Dacotah Bank/NSAA Football Offensive Most Valuable Player. Noey Tauave of Dickinson State (N.D.) was picked as the NSAA Defensive Player-of-the-Year.
Pete Stanton of Dickinson State was voted as the league Coach-of-the-Year after guiding his Blue Hawk football team to the second consecutive NSAA conference title outright and a spot in the NAIA Football Championship Series with a No. 14 final regular-season national ranking.
