N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Each year the National Sports Media Association hands out a sportscaster and sportswriter of the year award for each state as voted on by the media in that state.

ESPN Jamestown sports director Steve Linzmeier has been named among the finalists for the 2016 North Dakota sportscaster of the year award.

Linzmeier is joined on the list by KFGO’s Brad Anderson and KFYR’s Scott Woodmansee.

“It’s an incredible honor to be even named a finalist, because it’s voted on by my peers,” Linzmeier said about the nomination. “With the quality of broadcasting we have in North Dakota, it’s cool to be in the conversation.”

The voting by the state’s media takes place in December and the winner will be announced in January.

“It’s funny to be nominated with Brad and Woody, because they are two of my favorite guys to listen to in the entire state,” Linzmeier said of the Anderson and Woodmansee.

Jamestown has never had a sportscaster of the year, but they have had a couple sportswriters win the award. Chris Aarhus won it in 2014.

The winner of each state award is honored at a banquet in Salem, Virginia in June.
