N.D. – (NewsDakota.com) West Fargo Sheyenne High School Principal Greg Grooters passed away Monday, November 14th at the age of 56.

The Valley City native was described by his peers as a man with a passion for students and education.

Grooters graduated from Valley City High School in 1978 and went on to earn a math and computer science degree from Valley City State University.

In 1997 Grooters was induced into the Valley City State University Hall of Fame along with the 1981 Cross Country team and was selected as the North Dakota High School Coaches Association Coach of the Year in 1989 while coaching for the West Fargo High School Cross Country team. He was also selected as an NAIA academic All-American in 1981.

Visitation will be held Thursday, November 17th from 5pm to 7pm at St. Mary’s Cathedral in downtown Fargo, with a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, November 18th at 4pm at the church in Fargo.
