N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown Salvation Army is geared up for their largest fundraiser of the year which begins this Friday.
The Salvation Army Red Kettle Campaign is a significant part of the holiday’s every year and relies on donations from residents to benefit their many different programs. Major Tim Nauta states that the campaign helps fund their entire year of assistance.
This year, Major Nauta says they’ve set their goal at $157,000, which has been met in the past. But last year, they were nearly $20,000 short of that.
Nauta says if they don’t reach their goal this year, they will need to start cutting services to those in the community. That includes rental assistance, their coat drive and providing food and clothing to those in need.
He says they have several spots for the red kettles in Jamestown for individuals to volunteer at.
Interested individuals or groups are encouraged to go to registertoring.com to sign up, or call the Jamestown Salvation Army at 701-252-0290. Bell ringing begins Friday, November 18th and continues through December 24th.
