CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Valley City Police Department is investigating an attempted sexual assault that occurred Friday evening in City Park.
Police Chief Fred Thompson reports that a woman had been walking alone through City Park at around 8:00 PM Friday evening. She was reportedly approached by a man, who struck her in the face and pushed her to the ground.
The suspect attempted to forcibly remove the woman’s clothing when she kicked the suspect and screamed for help. The suspect then stood up and ran. The woman went home and contacted police.
The VCPD is seeking a man described as an African American male, roughly 5’08” to 5’11” with short black curly hair, broad shoulders and weighing approximately 180 to 200 lbs.
Police were also able to recover some possible physical evidence which will be submitted for DNA processing. The investigation is ongoing. If you have any information, contact the department at 701-845-3110.
