Bolstad, age 59 of Valley City died Sunday, November 6, 2016 at his residence.  A Service celebrating his life will be conducted at 3PM Thursday, November 10, 2016 at Faith Lutheran Church in Valley City with Rev. Jolene Knudsen-Hanse officiating.

Kenneth Ole “K.O.” Bolstad was born June 17, 1957 in Mayville, ND, to Ken and Ellen (Karlstad) Bolstad.  They spent the early part of his life in different towns, before ultimately settling in Valley City, where K.O. graduated from Valley City High School in 1975.  He continued his education at Valley City State University, before leaving to continue working full-time at Red Owl. During this time he also met Val Torgerson, and they were married June 12, 1981.   K.O. would continue to work in the grocery business for 29 years before leaving and taking a custodial position at the Student Center at VCSU until he was no longer able to work.

K.O. was selfless, both at work and personally.  If there was a way he could help a person, he did it.  Whether it was employees, friends, students at the college, or animals, he gave what he thought would help, even extending that nature to the medical staff attending to him in his final visits.

He is survived by his wife Val; children Katie, Grand Forks, ND and Jeff, Fargo, ND; his mother, Ellen Ann, Valley City, ND; his brother Jon (Robin), Fargo, ND; his sister Kristi, San Antonio, TX; and his nieces and nephews.  He is preceded in death by his father Kenneth.

In lieu of flowers he asked that people make a donation to the Roger Maris Cancer Center in Fargo, ND or Sheyenne Valley Friends of Animals in Valley City.
