WI (VCSUVikings.com)- Cardinal Stritch shot 57 percent from the field as the No. 19-ranked Red Wolves downed Valley City State in women’s basketball Saturday, 79-63.
VCSU was unable to overcome a first half that saw Stritch build a 45-24 lead. The Red Wolves shot 63 percent in the first half and outscored VCSU 27-10 in the second quarter during the Cardinal Stritch Classic in Milwaukee, Wis.
Lexi Lennon scored 19 points on 9-for-14 shooting to lead VCSU’s offense. Georgia Williams added 14 points, and both Alli Vandal and Paige Meyer scored eight points.
VCSU shot 46 percent overall (25-54), 23 percent on 3’s (5-22) and 62 percent (8-13) from the free throw line.
Cardinal Stritch finished at 57 percent overall (33-58), 50 percent on 3’s (5-10), and 62 percent at the line (8-13).
