CITY, IA (VCSUVikings)- The VCSU men’s basketball team suffered a pair of losses this weekend in Iowa, dropping non-conference games to Dordt College on Friday and Northwestern College on Saturday.

The Vikings were unable to overcome a poor shooting first half Friday night as they opened the road trip with a 99-72 loss at Dordt College.

VCSU shot just 32 percent in the first half as they fell behind 49-25 after 20 minutes. The Vikings played nearly even with Dordt in the second half, but were unable to mount a serious comeback.

Rashad Satahoo scored 17 points as the leading Viking scorer. Jayden Ferguson scored 14 points, Ellwood Ellenson added 12 points and seven rebounds, andChase Carpenter scored 11 points off the bench.

Saturday: Northwestern College 86, VCSU 79

The Vikings trailed 43-33 at halftime, but rallied back to within two points in the second half. Ferguson’s 3-pointer with 4:37 remaining capped a four-point possession and pulled VCSU to within 74-72.

Ferguson went 12-for-16 shooting as he scored a game-high 30 points. Austin Dunbar posted a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds, and Ellwood Ellenson added 13 points and five rebounds.
