(VCSUVikings.com)- Dennis Gonzalez earned All Conference honors on Saturday as the Valley City State cross country teams wrapped up the season with the North Star Athletic Association Championships in Dickinson.
Gonzalez led the Viking men with a 10th-place individual finish, nabbing an All Conference honor with his time of 27:00.97.
The VCSU men and women both finished in sixth place out of six teams at the meet.
“Although a few setbacks caused us to not fulfill our potential today at the conference meet, the future is bright for this program,” said VCSU head coach Chris Johnson.
Orin Rambow finished in 19th place for the Viking men, and Daniel Machado came in 35th. Smith Tuya placed 39th, Casey Engelhard was 46th, and Alex Askerooth andAlex French placed 52nd and 53rd to round out the VCSU men’s team.
Dickinson State won the men’s team title with a total score of 34. Waldorf University was second.
Dickinson State’s women also won the team title with a score of 27. Jamestown placed second.
The Viking women were led by junior Geneva Espinoza, who finished in 23rd place overall. Kauna Hansen was 34th while Macy Dimler, Jordan Lane and Jolynn Gregoryk were 37th through 39th. Rachel Schmidt rounded out the Viking women with a 41st place finish overall.
