(NewsDakota.com) After defeating the two time defending Class A State Champions two weeks ago, and the number one team in the state last week, the Ellendale-Edgeley/Kulm football team advanced to the Class A Championship game after a convincing 50-20 victory over #2 Langdon Area/Munich on Saturday afternoon.

EEK was only up by a seven point margin at halftime, before putting up 30 points in the second half to roll away from the Cardinals. Clayton Grueneich scored five touchdowns and amassed 252 yards on 16 carries to propel the Thunder to victory. EEK racked up 373 total yards on the ground as a team.

It’s the first time since 2004 that Edgeley-Kulm has been to a State Championship game, and the first time ever for Ellendale.

The Thunder will play Des-Lacs-Burlington, who defeated Minot Bishop Ryan 32-20 Saturday, for the Class A State Championship on Friday, November 11 at the FargoDome in the Dakota Bowl series. Kickoff is set for 9:10 a.m.
