N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – When the Pipestem Dam Shooting Range closed in 2015, many were left wondering if there would ever be a shooting range in Jamestown again.
Due to various events including negligence and vandalism, the range was shut down. The United Sportsmen Club and Stutsman County Wildlife Club began the conversation to find a site for a new range. Curt Kaseman is a member of the United Sportsmen Club.
The Jamestown Marksmanship Education Range board was formed after members of the clubs and surrounding communities got together and decided that a new range was needed. Kaseman pointed out that recent legislation required hunters ages 11 and up to pass an education course, meaning that a range would need to be used to do so.
One of the major hitches in the plans was finding the land, which Kaseman says may have been found in the Woodbury Township 3 miles South of Jamestown.
Kaseman says that any individuals interested in a new shooting range and support it are invited to the Woodbury Township meeting on Friday, November 4th at 7:00 PM in the KC Hall of Jamestown.
