City (NewsDakota.com)- The Valley City Baseball Association and Valley City Public Schools announced earlier this week the hiring of Lance Lukes as the new head coach for The Hi-Liners Baseball Team.
Lukes brings a wealth of experience to the Valley City High School baseball program having previously served as the junior varsity and varsity assistant coach for the Hi-Liners for 8 years, the Valley City Babe Ruth head coach for 11 years and the Post 60 American Legion head coach this past season. Under his leadership the Post 60 Team won the 2016 North Dakota Class A State Championship and his Babe Ruth teams were district champions and state qualifiers in 2013, 2014, and 2015 with a state runner-up finish in 2013.
As Lukes prepares for the upcoming season he will have to factor in several changes made this year by The NDHSAA
The 2017 VCHS Baseball Season begins April 11th with a doubleheader against Devils Lake at Charlie Brown Field.
