N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Trucks supplying fresh vegetables, meat, bakery items and boxed goods will be in the communities of Carrington, New Rockford and Sheyenne on Thursday, November 3rd as part of the Great Plains Food Bank Mobile Food Pantry program. Anyone in need of food assistance in the three communities or neighboring communities are welcome to attend and receive food at no cost.
The Mobile Food Pantries will take place starting at Grace Lutheran Church in Carrington from 10 a.m. until 10:45 a.m., at the City Hall parking lot in New Rockford from 11:45 p.m. until 12:30 p.m. and in the Sheyenne High School parking lot in Sheyenne from 1:45 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. Thursday.
“The Mobile Food Pantry program fills a strong need and puts food directly into the hands of those that need it most,” Great Plains Food Bank Regional Services Manager Andrea Block, who services Mobile Food Pantries in eastern North Dakota, said. “This is all about convenience for the consumer. They know exactly when and where there will be fresh and nutritious food available. We want to make it as easy as we can for those who need help to be able to get it.”
These Mobile Food Pantries are among 17 happening across North Dakota and Clay County, Minn., through the end of the year. So far this year the Great Plains Food Bank Mobile Food Pantry program has supplied 5,749 boxes of food, which has served a total of 139 households and over 10,000 pounds of food.

Established in 2008, the Mobile Food Pantry program is run by the Great Plains Food Bank that takes much needed product into communities in need of food assistance.
