Currently, local and county officials are assisting the Morton County Sheriff’s Department is maintaining control at the protests site and helping with the removal of protesters on private property. Tracy pointed out that he was concerned of the local toll this was having in Jamestown.

Tracy stated that in his and many others opinions, there really is nothing for the protesters to be protesting. Yet with local officials out there, he was worried about the local taxpayers affording assistance to the Morton County Sheriff’s Department.

City Administrator Jeff Fuchs reported that the most the police department has sent to assist with protests was 7 officers. He reported that the city would be reimbursed by the state for use of their resources. Tracy pointed out that he still didn’t agree, saying it was a waste of State taxpayer dollars.
