N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown Public Works Committee discussed a few items Thursday.
An update was provided regarding AE2S progress including preliminary information on the Stormwater Utility Feasibility Study. City Administrator Jeff Fuchs reported that more information will be published as soon as it becomes available.
Darrell Hournbuckle with Interstate Engineering came before the council to discuss the future of 2nd Avenue and 19th Street Southeast, located south of the Frontier Fort. Hournbuckle stated that the areas residents wanted two separate projects completed for both roads.
If approved, the city would strip the topsoil and lay down gravel. City Councilman Dan Buchanan stated that he was uncomfortable with providing shoddy infrastructure to an area that had no solid proposed development.
Hournbuckle stated that there had been some proposed projects in the area, but nothing has been applied for. The council unanimously denied the request, pending more information from future development in the area.
City Administrator Jeff Fuchs later reported that one of the city’s rear-end loaders would need to be replaced.
To fix the issue, it would cost the city $25,000 to $70,000. Fuchs reported that it was not worth fixing the 2003 truck. A new truck would cost the city $142,900. Fuchs stated that at this time, they would consider holding off on purchasing another truck.
Fuchs says the City Sanitation Department would continue with how they’re dealing with the issue at the moment so they can use the money to purchase future equipment for residential recycling.
