N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The 6th Annual Kiwanis Kids Against Hunger event has plenty of volunteers, but need more help raising funds to purchase packaging materials.

Kids Against Hunger is an event held annually that provides meals for those in need. Janna Bergstedt, Co-chair of the event, stated that usually they send the meals overseas. This year, all the meals will stay in this region.

Over 400 volunteers will package meals, which will then be distributed by the Great Plains Food Bank. Last year, more than 212,000 meals were packaged during the event. This Saturday, they hope to reach a huge milestone.

Bergstedt stated that they have an anonymous donor who will match every dollar with 50 cents, meaning a donation of $10 will really be a donation of $15. And Bergstedt pointed out that every single donation makes a difference.

“Kids Against Hunger does a great thing for hungry families. Indirectly, it does a great thing for Kiwanis too. We hear about service clubs struggling with membership, but with the help of KAH, membership in Jamestown remains strong,” said Tim Perkins, event Co-chair.

The packaging event will be this Saturday at Stutsman Harley Davidson.

To donate, you can stop by any First Community Credit Union location, visit their gofundme page or contact them at JamestownKiwanis@gmail.com.
