N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown Finance & Legal Committee met on Tuesday, October 25th and went over several items. Councilman Ramone Gumke was not present.

Steven Fenlon came before the council to ask for a public hearing regarding tax-exempt refinancing of long-term indebtedness of Lutheran Social Services of North Dakota. According to Fenlon, Lutheran Social Services has two properties in Jamestown.

The council approved to hold a public hearing for them in December.

Searle Swedlund with Jamestown Tourism requested $14,072 from the New Project Fund held by the city for partial payment of the Talking Trails Project. The city also moved without recommendation a request of Joel Onsurez for Renaissance Zone incentives of a piece of property in the Klaus Addition.

The council also unanimously approved the 2015 City Audit Report, prepared by Schauer & Associates, PC.

In closing of the meeting, Councilwoman Pam Phillips asked what the status was of the Jamestown Recycling contract negotiations. City Beautification member Joan Morris pointed out that she was concerned that the time frame for implementation would be longer if no action was being taken.

City Attorney Leo Ryan stated that he was working on meshing the proposal with the cities specifications before a contract was written up.

Mayor Katie Andersen pointed out that they would look to have a contract well before December, followed by a meeting to discuss the specifications and requirements for the city and Renaissance Recycling.
