CITY, ND – (NewsDakota.com) Former Valley City mayor Bob Werkhoven was honored by the Lake Agassiz Water Authority for advocating the need for the Red River Water Supply Project and its importance to the state of North Dakota.
The Board of Directors honored Werkhoven for his dedication concerning the water interests in the Red River Valley according to Lake Agassiz Water Authority Chairman Timothy Mahoney and board secretary Duane DeKrey.
Werkhoven said the Lake Agassiz Water Authority and the Garrison Diversion Conservancy will be instrumental in bringing a water supply to communities in eastern North Dakota including Valley City if or when a severe drought hits the region again in the future.
Werkhoven served as a member of the Lake Agassiz Water Authority from 2012 to 2016.
