CITY (NewsDakota.com) The Valley City State University offense struck on the second play of the game, and the defense had a couple of scores, as the Vikings earned a decisive 28-7 victory over Presentation College Saturday.
Kurtis Walls connected for 63 yards with Colby Lum to give VCSU the early advantage. Later in the first quarter, the Vikings used a 10 play drive culminating with a two yard run by Tyler Lentz to give VCSU a 14-0 lead.
The next two scores came via VCSU’s defense. Travon Smith had a 22 yard interception return for a score, and Ben Bruenjes returned a fumble from 62 yards.
Vikings quarterback Kurtis Walls was 10 of 16 for 173 yards and a touchdown. Walls left the game towards the end of the first half with an injury.
Presentation quarterback Austin Eggl was 22-39 for 158 yards, a touchdown and two interceptions.
