City, ND (VCSUvikings.com)- Four Vikings scored in double figures Friday night as the Valley City State women’s basketball team dominated it’s season opener against Brandon University.

VCSU knocked down nine 3-pointers and held the Bobcats to just 26 percent shooting as the Vikings never trailed during the 82-40 victory in Valley City.

Georgia Williams scored a game-high 17 points for the Vikings. Alli Vandal poured in 13 points and pulled down six rebounds. Sara Schwanke finished with 11 points, andKennedy Henningsgard posted 11 points, seven rebounds and four steals.

The Vikings shot 52 percent in the first half to build a 42-17 lead at the break. VCSU outscored Brandon 25-8 in the second quarter.

Valley City State shot 43 percent overall (29-68), 31 percent from 3-point range (9-29) and 88 percent at the line (15-17). Nisja Bass and Williams each had three 3-pointers. Bass and Lexi Lennon finished with nine points each.

The Vikings out-rebounded Brandon 38-33, including an 11-7 edge on the offensive glass.

VCSU’s defense came up with 14 steals and forced 30 turnovers by the Bobcats. Brandon shot just 26 percent overall (13-50), 14 percent from 3-point range (3-21) and 61 percent at the line (11-18). Mikaela Stanton and Logan Biccum each had eight points to lead the Bobcats.
