N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The small community of Medina is still reeling following the loss of the Diamond W Feeds Elevator Sunday evening.
Diamond W Feeds General Manager Kenny Hoffer reports that the building housed as much as 60,000 bushels and some feed products. All was a total loss.
Medina Fire Chief Brian Rau says firefighters believed the blaze started in the basement or first floor. By the time crews arrived, the structure had been compromised, so they focused on protecting nearby homes.
Below are some photos courtesy of Rick Bohn of Medina. These photos were taken at around 5 PM Tuesday evening. You can see that the grain bin continues to smolder, even two days after the initial fire.
