Young, 74, of Jamestown, ND, passed away Friday afternoon, October 14, 2016 at Eventide in Jamestown.

Fern Mary “Kit” Young was born October 9, 1942, in Fullerton, ND the daughter of B.C. and Rose (Barta) Simek. She was raised and attended school in Fullerton and attended college at Wahpeton State School of Science.  Kit worked on an Air Force Base in San Bernardino, CA where she met Clyde Young.  They were married on June 19, 1965 at the Union Church in Fullerton.  They lived in California, Indiana, and Dickinson, ND before moving to Jamestown where their home has been since. Kit was a homemaker and raised two boys, Jeff and Kelly.  She went to work in 1986 for Dardis Realty as an office manager, retiring in 2004.

Kit was a member of the United Presbyterian Church and Elkettes. She enjoyed traveling and eating at good restaurants, and especially loved watching her five grandchildren and attending their events.

Kit is survived by her husband, Clyde Young; two sons, Jeff & Terri Young and Kelly Young & Samantha Herrboldt; five grandchildren, Andy, Alexis, Britany, Hunter, and Oaklee; sister, Pam & Allen Gjerdevig; and brother, Dean Simek.

Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m., Monday, October 17, 2016 at United Presbyterian Church, Jamestown, with Pastor Bob Boyar officiating.

Visitation: 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Sunday, October 16, 2016 at Williams Funeral Home, Jamestown.

Prayer Service: 7:00 p.m., Sunday, October 16, 2016 at Williams Funeral Home, Jamestown.

Interment: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Jamestown.
