Harold “Ole” Tuenge, age 86, of Monticello, MN, peacefully passed away on Friday, October 14, 2016, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Ole was born October 8, 1930 in Barnes County, North Dakota to Benjamin and Ella (Hass) Tuenge.  He attended school in Pillsbury, ND, through the eighth grade.

He joined the Army at age 17 and served in the Korean War during combat and peacetime, receiving numerous medals for his service.

Ole married Selma Wisted May 27, 1956, at Page Lutheran Church, Page, ND.  He worked for the Pillsbury elevator for fifteen years before working many years for Donavan Construction.  Ole eventually settled in Monticello, MN, in 1970, when he started working for Anoka Electric Corp. as a heavy equipment operator.  He retired from Anoka Electric in 1993.

During his retirement, Ole enjoyed watching the Green Bay Packers and the Minnesota Twins, gardening, cutting and splitting wood, fishing, and spending time with his family.

Ole is preceded in death by his parents Benjamin and Ella; brother, Henry; sister-in-law Martha; and brother-in-law Lorne Burchill.  He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Selma; sisters Delores and Margie; daughter Janice DeMars (Paul); sons C. Dale Tuenge and James Tuenge (Becky Lerner, Joel); grandchildren Christine Johnson (Robert), Samuel DeMars (Trisha Gray), and C. Evan DeMars; and great grandchildren Grace, Aubrey, Samuel, Gavin and David.

Funeral service will be held Wednesday, October 19th at 10:30 am at Oliver-Nathan Funeral Chapel, 251 Central Ave S., Valley City, ND, with visitation at 9 am, graveside service at Memory Gardens and luncheon at the Valley City Eagles Club to follow.
