N.D. (NewsDakota.com)—–The Carrington Cardinals will be heading to the playoffs once again after a 27-14 victory over Milnor-North Sargent. Trailing 6-0 after the first period, the Cardinals outscored the Bulldogs 21-0 in the second and third quarters to help them advance into the 2016 playoffs.

Jacob Hanson started the scoring early at Stadium ’76 with a 6 yard TD run on the opening drive of the game giving M-NS a 6-0 lead after a failed pass attempt on the 2-point try. Hanson, the Bulldogs starting QB had a hand in 265 yards of the teams total of 267 yards of offense.

Kaden Wolsky had a big night running the ball for the Cardinals scoring 3 TD’S and rushing for 134 yards on 15 carries. Wolsky’s first TD of the night was a 7 yard run with 10:36 to go in the second quarter. Braxton Hewitt added the point after kick and the Cards led 7-6. Drew Page would score next for the Cards on a 2 yard TD run with 8:10 to go in the third quarter giving Carrington a 14-6 lead with Hewitt’s extra point kick. Page would finish the game with 86 yards rushing on 18 carries. Wolsky would run through multiple would be Bulldog tacklers on his second TD of the night from 38 yards. After several broken tackles on the play, Wolsky emerged out of a pile of players at the 25 yard line and raced into the end zone giving the Cards a 21-6 lead after another Hewitt extra point kick.

Hanson would pull the Bulldogs back within a score on a 20 yard TD pass to Adam Sakry with 7:36 to play in the game. Hanson would take the ball into the end zone on the 2 point try and cut the Carrington lead to 21-14. Wolsky and the Cards would get the final score of the evening on a 25 yard TD scamper with 2:17 to go and put the game out of reach.

Cardinal starting QB Hayden Schmitz completed 4-9 passes for 96 yards, connecting with 4 different receivers. Page 1-40, Garrett Bickett 1-37, Bryce Edland 1-12, and Hewitt 1-7.  Hanson finished 14-32-208-1-1, Drew Asche had 4 catches for 68 yards, and Sakry had 4 catches for 32 yards including his 20 yard TD. M-NS season comes to an end at 4-4 overall and 2-3 in Region 1, while Carrington improved to 4-4 overall and 3-2 in Region 1 play. Carrington will travel to Langdon next Saturday in the first round of the Class A 11-man playoffs.
