ND (NewsDakota.com) – Jamestown and Mandan played the final game ever at Faris Field in Mandan on Thursday night. The Braves closed the doors on their home field with a 28-24 win over the Jays.

Jamestown got on the board first following a muffed punt by the Braves. On the very next play, Jared Harr exploded through a big hole and raced 27-yards to the house.  Mandan tied it on a Trae Steckler 50-yard catch just a few minutes later.

Each team added one more score in the first half. Jamestown got a four-yard scoring pass from Mason Walters to Jared Kallenbach. Mandan tied it late in the half on a Jaden Andresen 54-yard catch and run.  The Jays preserved the 14-14 tie when Brian Opsahl intercepted a pass inside the five-yard line late in the half.

Mandan took a 21-17 lead into the fourth quarter and faced a big fourth-and-one from the one and Kaden Krause plunged in on a quarterback sneak to add to the lead.

Jamestown also converted on a fourth-and-one quarterback sneak from the one later in the quarter. With Jamestown trailing 28-24, the Braves were trying to run out the clock on the ensuing possession when Harr strip sacked Krause and got the ball back for his team.

The Jays were able to get one first down, but turned it over on downs around midfield to end the game.

Jamestown will finish their season on Wednesday at Ernie Gates Field against Legacy. The Sabers knocked off No. 5 Dickinson 25-0 tonight, so they can clinch their first ever playoff spot with a win over Jamestown.
