N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown Police Department is welcoming in a new, furry companion within their ranks.

Jamestown Police Chief Scott Edinger came before the Jamestown City Council in September to report that there was an available service dog in Nebraska that they were interested in purchasing for service in the department. The council approved and Officer Andrew Stoen was selected to be the handler for the new K-9, Odin.

Officer Stoen says he has received some training in Bismarck with Odin and says it will take a few weeks to get trained to be field ready.

Officer Stoen has been with the Jamestown Police Department for nearly 2 years. He says when he first started; he began gaining interest in being a K-9 handler within the Department.

Officer Stoen pointed out that he and Odin would be ready for service later this year.
