JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown Area Chamber of Commerce Agriculture & Energy Committee hosted the 3rd Annual Energy Luncheon at ND Farmers Union in Jamestown with approximately 85 people in attendance.
The presenter was Jayme Orrock, the operations manager of the Courtenay and Border Wind Farms, owned by Xcel Energy. His presentation showcased the development of the wind farm in Stutsman County, and the new technology that is being utilized and developed to increase the capacity and efficiencies of the wind towers. There will be 100 wind towers in the Courtenay project, and 12 FTE jobs associated with this when completed.
Mr. Orrock explained the pre and post development phases and the extensive studies that need to be completed before and after the construction of a wind farm. North Dakota is now 2nd in generating wind capacity in the nation, and there are several new projects being proposed, including a large one in Barnes County.
The civic organizations and general public are invited to attend this informational event, and the Jamestown Rotarians had the most members present, so were awarded the traveling trophy for this next year.
