N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – One of the state’s largest hunting seasons begins this Saturday when hunters set out for their pheasants.

The North Dakota Game & Fish Department reports that numbers for pheasants are down, but that doesn’t mean there will be fewer hunters. State Biologist Doug Leier says it’s not bigger than the deer season, but it’s still one of hunters favorites.

Leier pointed out that the way weather can interfere with broods and the environment would determine how good the pheasant numbers are and where they’ll be most prominent.

Leier also stated that some areas have received recent rains, so hunters should be mindful if they are traveling on wet terrain and to leave areas the way they found them.

The pheasant season wraps up January 8th, 2017. You can find rules, licenses and regulations by clicking here.
