N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Imagination Library is a literacy program for Children ages 0 to 5 years that sends books monthly to them in the mail.
Carrington’s Healthy Communities Coalition is looking to bring Imagination Library to the area.
Facilitator Jan Bakke announced through a community letter that Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library would be integrated into several communities in the area including Carrington, Barlow, Bordulac, Sykeston, Cathay, Glenfield, and Juanita.
“Dolly Parton started the program in her hometown in 1995 and it has grown nationwide,” Bakke states in the letter. “North Dakota’s First Lady Betsy Dalrymple has made Imagination Library a priority and has promoted it throughout the state. Currently, there are 29 counties offering the program.”
The cost of the program is $25 for an enrolled child per year. The goal is to enroll up to 40 children in the first year. Currently, they are seeking partners to sponser children in the area for the program.
