(NewsDakota.com) Brant Bohmert scored three touchdowns, including returning the opening kickoff for a score as the Northern Cass Jaguars secured the Class A Region I Regular Season Championship with a 33-0 win at Oakes against the Tornadoes Friday night.

Bohmert took the opening kick 75 yards to the house, and also scored on a 72 yard run in the third quarter.

In addition, he caught a 15 yard pass from Nick Nelson and had an interception off of Oakes’ Coy Awender.

The Tornadoes failed to score, and are still looking for their first victory of the season. Oakes did have an interception off of Nelson. Oakes’ head coach Greg Dobitz was still proud of his team’s effort in spite of the defeat.

Oakes’ regular season finale is at Kulm next Friday as the Tornadoes face the Thunder of Ellendale/Edgeley-Kulm. Coverage on KDDR-AM 1220/05.9 FM and NewsDakota.com starts at 6:30, with kickoff at 7 p.m.
