JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The community of Jamestown and Stutsman County continue to impress as far as Taxable Sales & Purchases are concerned.

The North Dakota Office of the State Tax Commissioner released their 2nd Quarter Taxable Sales & Purchases for the state. According to the report, Stutsman County saw a 12% increase in the second quarter, showing $68,020,917 in taxable sales for 2016. Jamestown saw $66,557,858 of those taxable sales for the same period.

Manufacturing, Retail Trade, and Food Services continue to be strong industries for Jamestown. Manufacturing reported $4,218,379 in the second quarter, retail trade saw $39,609,272, and Food Services reported $11,373,647. All three are increases from the 2nd Quarter of 2015.

Jamestown remains a bright spot in North Dakota in taxable sales & purchases. Tax Commissioner Ryan Rauschenberger reports that most numbers for the second quarter of calendar 2016 were down nearly 26 percent from where they were a year ago. He also pointed out that retail is about 7 percent down, showing that the state still shows consumer confidence.
